Call for applications for Gasworks’ first ‘event’ focused residency

NEW OPPORTUNITY: Situation | Event - Performance Residency

1 June 2013 - 1 September 2013

Call for applications for Gasworks’ first ‘event’ focused residency
Open to any non-UK based artist
Deadline for application: Monday 4 March 2013

This new residency at Gasworks aims to support the development of art practices that might not normally thrive within existing residency models.
Applicants are invited to propose a series of exploratory works with public outcomes. We are looking for experimental practices, innovative and experimental approaches to contemporary performance, and proposals that question contemporary understandings of these terms.
With this new model, the residency can be less studio-based with process instead taking precedent, in the form of a series of 'events' or public outcomes, illustrating stages of work-in-progress. The resulting works could take the form of interventions, community or socially engaged projects, performances, workshops, ephemeral works, happenings, lectures, presentations, theatrical productions or other event-based activities.
Application
The residency is open to non-UK based contemporary visual artists, including those with curatorial practices, working in any medium.
Applicants working in pairs or small groups may apply, but please note that the residency provision covers the costs and space for one artist to undertake the residency, so any extra financial support required will need to be secured by the applicants themselves.
Applying artists should have a good level of spoken English, and should feel comfortable engaging in artistic discussions in English.
Before applying, please read the Information and Guidelines for application, downloadable here.

Applications should be emailed to:
Residencies Assistant, Gasworks
resassist@gasworks.org.uk
If you prefer to post your application, please send it to:

Important dates
Deadline for applications: Monday 4 March 2013
Announcement of selected artist: End of March 2013

Open Call for Artists (Winter 2025-26) Last Ship Art Residency @Khajuraho

Artist in residence: The artist studios of Last Ship are situated opposite the UNESCO World Heritage temples of Khajuraho. The Viswanath temple built in 999 AD is right in front, less than 20 meters from Last Ship. Little known prehistoric and ancient historic sites in this region tell parts of a story more than 10,000 years old, of the Mughals, the Chandelas, going back to the Guptas, the Kushans, the Shungas and the Indo-Greeks all the way to prehistoric cave-dwellers, revealing secrets of the birth of the philosophies of Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism and their common Tantric spiritual traditions. The artists of the residency are invited to have their own experience of this heritage, like the sadhus, aghoris, and mystics who make solitary pilgrimages through this region, called the most powerful tantric region in the world, in search of enlightenment. The Last Ship residency program is a one-of-a-kind experience of a history, nature and culture, hidden in the chaos and turmoil...
