EMERGING ARTISTS - INDIA in partnership with Charles Wallace India Trust & Inlaks

With support from the Charles Wallace India Trust and Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation, DF is offering a residency to an emerging artist, living and working in India, to take part in our summer programme (8 July to 29 September 2014).  During this season, we will develop a loosely structured series of events and activities enabling residents to:
  • Research and develop areas of interest;
  • Develop skills via training and mentoring;
  • Access information and resources through independent study, field trips and workshops; and
  • Participate in both internal and external/public events.

Typical participants will include young graduates or emerging artists with limited international experience.
THE SELECTED ARTIST WILL RECEIVE:
  • A twelve-week residency in London, including one return, economy-class flight, and a living allowance for food/per diems and materials;
  • A single bedroom at DF with shared facilities, such as the laundry room, kitchen, and dining room;
  • Opportunities to engage in the art scene in UK through structured and independent time and activities; and
  • Access to a programme of planned group activities and visits to cultural organisations in the UK.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Currently living and working in India;
  • Under the age of 32;
  • Seeking an opportunity to develop their practice and the concepts of their artistic work;
  • Able to explain how the experience of an international residency may benefit his/her career development; and
  • Proficient in English.

APPLICATION PROCESS:Applicants are expected to submit:
  • The completed application form
  • A CV detailing recent solo and group exhibitions, workshops and residencies
  • At least 15 high-quality images of your artworks
  • Contact details of one referee

Open Call! The Djerassi Program is now accepting applications for 2025 Artists in Residence program until September 12.

The Djerassi Resident Artist Program has awarded over 2500 writers, visual/media artists, composers, choreographers, filmmakers, and scientists for the past 41 years the gift of time and space with a one-month residency on our 583-acre ranch in Northern California's Santa Cruz Mountains. All at no cost to the artists. We offer four and five-week residencies throughout the year across all disciplines: Visual arts, media arts, music composition, choreography, literary arts, and science. Designed as a retreat, the residency provides an environment for personal creative work and fosters collegial interaction within a supportive community of artists.
