The successful applicant will be mentored by internationally acclaimed Polish artist Mirosław Bałka.

Thematic focus
The residency is open to all individuals wishing to develop their practice in a professional context by creating a new (body of) work(s) on the theme "The Imprint of Man - Representing the Anthropocene," using photography, video, installations and/or new media.

Eligibility
Applicants should be under 35 years of age at the time of application, in keeping with the EIB Institute's focus on promoting young or emerging talent. In order to facilitate communications with the mentor and local artistic environment in Luxembourg, participants should be fluent in English.

Jury
Applications are evaluated by a selection jury consisting of members of the EIB Institute Arts Committee and staff, external arts professionals and the mentor. The jury bases its selection on the proposal submitted answering the creative brief, the potential impact of the residency on the applicant's career, and the relevance of the applicant's practice to the cultural context of the EIB Institute.

Budget and duration
The EIB Institute will take over the artist's travel costs to and from Luxembourg and Warsaw. The artist in residence will also receive a stipend (EUR 100 per day). At the end of the residency, the participant will receive an artist fee of EUR 1,500.

Before or during the residency in Luxembourg, the winner will spend a few days visiting the mentor and experiencing the latter's creative studio(s) in Warsaw. The duration of the residency in Luxembourg is four to six weeks, starting on 1 September. The artist participating in the ADP will be provided a living/working space located in Centre Culturel de Rencontre Abbaye de Neumünster, situated in the culturally rich Grund district of Luxembourg city.

Upon completion of the residency, the EIB might consider acquiring an artwork from the artist.

Open Call for Artists (Winter 2025-26) Last Ship Art Residency @Khajuraho

Artist in residence: The artist studios of Last Ship are situated opposite the UNESCO World Heritage temples of Khajuraho. The Viswanath temple built in 999 AD is right in front, less than 20 meters from Last Ship. Little known prehistoric and ancient historic sites in this region tell parts of a story more than 10,000 years old, of the Mughals, the Chandelas, going back to the Guptas, the Kushans, the Shungas and the Indo-Greeks all the way to prehistoric cave-dwellers, revealing secrets of the birth of the philosophies of Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism and their common Tantric spiritual traditions. The artists of the residency are invited to have their own experience of this heritage, like the sadhus, aghoris, and mystics who make solitary pilgrimages through this region, called the most powerful tantric region in the world, in search of enlightenment. The Last Ship residency program is a one-of-a-kind experience of a history, nature and culture, hidden in the chaos and turmoil...
