The International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in Brooklyn, New York announces an open call for a residency for a curator and one for an artist from India sponsored by Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation. This call is open to Indian citizens, who are 35 years of age or less and have resided continuously in India for at least two years prior to the time of application. The curator residency will take place April 1 - June 30, 2015 and the artist residency May 1- July 31, 2015.
Both residencies include participation in ISCP, a stipend for accommodation and living expenses in New York City and travel costs. The 2015 residencies mark the second year for an Inlaks sponsored curatorial residency, and the first for an artist residency. Curator Akansha Rastogi was the recipient of the residency in 2014.
ISCP is a leading nonprofit, residency-based contemporary art institution for emerging to mid-career artists and curators from around the world, including the United States. With more than 30 artists and curators in residence at all times, the program provides residents with the space, time, and support to develop new projects. With additional activities tailored for professional development and public engagement, ISCP serves as an important platform for producing, presenting and contextualizing contemporary art through a diverse range of international perspectives. ISCP’s public programs encourage dialogue and integrate residents into the cultural community of New York City. The residency includes 24-hour access to a private 250 sq. ft. furnished studio space, regular studio visits from Visiting Critics; Field Trips to museums, galleries and other cultural institutions; and participation in ISCP Talks. Residents at ISCP are also invited to take part in ISCP’s Exhibition Program and Participatory Projects.
Applications are accepted by mail only sent directly to the Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation. The deadline is November 20, 2014 and the recipients will be notified in early January 2015.

About Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation: The Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation was established by Indoo Shivdasani in 1976 as a permanent platform for his philanthropic activities. The Foundation focuses on providing scholarships, grants and awards in any field to outstanding young Indians to develop their professional, scientific, artistic and cultural abilities. It prides itself on being open to a wide range of subjects, many of which are not covered by other fund-giving bodies. Over the last three decades, more than 400 scholars have benefited from overseas scholarships while another 150 have received awards and Take-Off Grants in India. The list of Inlaks alumni reflects the diversity of scholars that the Foundation has supported. In response to a vibrant and flourishing art scene globally and within India, the Foundation has increased its support to young practitioners in the field of Fine Arts. Significant painters and sculptors supported by the Foundation include Jagannath Panda, Rekha Rodwittiya, N.N.Rimzon, Gigi Scaria, Vasudevan Akkitam, Manisha Parekh, Sonia Khurana, Sheela Gowda, Shaina Anand, Sakshi Gupta, Hemali Bhuta and Chinmoy Pramanick all of whom have contributed considerably to the fabric of Indian art. While some of these artists have been recipients of the Inlaks scholarships to universities abroad for graduate degrees in the Fine Arts, others have been recipients of the Inlaks Fine Arts Awards that aid them to commence their artistic projects within India. The Foundation has collaborated with the Royal College of Art for several years and supports artists at residencies at Gasworks, UK, Darling Foundry, Montreal, Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto - Italy, and Rijksakademie, Amsterdam. Within India, artists are supported at KHOJ in New Delhi, BAR-1 in Bangalore, Sandarbh in Partapur, Rajasthan, and Cona in Mumbai. The Foundation also currently supports a curatorial lab in the Art and Aesthetics program, at the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
