Keynote Lecture by: Prof. Una Chaudhuri, NYU
GLOBAL LIVES
The rapid changes currently experienced in the different spheres of contemporary life are loosely addressed by the term “globalization.” We are seeking short film submissions that explore the topic in terms of the issues, experiences and narratives of groups and individuals as they are faced with the unique challenges and possibilities of living in a global world.
We are interested in classic and experimental narratives, documentary, fiction and animation, in traditional film genres as well as alternative aesthetic modes. Works addressing non-Western themes, as well as minority and marginalized communities especially wanted. All submissions must be under 15 minutes (shorter works preferred).
The GLOBAL LIVES conference will attempt to explore some of the many aspects of this globalized view of culture, as well as other aspects of global lives, economical, political or other. We seek to engage contributions from a wide range of disciplines to bring together the different theories and perspectives of globalization in order to articulate the diverse experiences of living in a globalized world. The short film program will form an integral part of our graduate conference, to be held at our Manhattan Campus on Saturday October 13th, 2012.
Filmmakers interested in submitting their short film/video should use Dropbox (“Cultural Analysis and Theory”) and email us with film title, 2-3 sentence bio and contact information to catgradconf@gmail.com by September 1, 2012.
Alternatively, you can send us your DVD in NTSC formats in an envelope clearly marked FILM to:

Selected filmmakers will be informed by September 15, 2012. Up to three entries per filmmaker. Maximum 15 mins length (shorter films 5-10 mins preferred).
GENERAL SUBMISSIONS RULES:
1. Entries MUST be 15 minutes or less.
2. Submit online at Dropbox or send DVD in NTSC formats.
3. Submissions in any language other than English must be subtitled or dubbed.
4. Each entry must be accompanied by 1). film title 2). 2-3 sentence bio 3). contact info.
5. Entries will not be returned.
