The Foundation for Indian Contemporary Art is supporting a research fellow from India to be in residence alongside a participant from Turkey supported by SAHA. Please note that Indian participants should apply directly to FICA and applicants from Turkey should apply to Delfina Foundation.
The Research Fellowship 2013 aims to provide an opportunity for intensive research in the field of visual culture by curators and researchers who have an innovative visual culture project, and who might benefit from the research and curatorial work that is being done by the fellowship's partner institutions in London. Artists are welcome to apply; however this residency is largely focused on the development of critical-curatorial discourse, not singularly on artistic practice.
The 2013 recipients will receive:
  • A 10-12 week residency (late September/October to December) in London, including one economy return flight to London, a bursary for per diems and basic living costs, and accommodation. Please note that final dates will be confirmed with the selected applicants.
  • Access to attend Goldsmith’s post-graduate courses and the Curatorial/Knowledge seminars
  • Access to the Iniva’s Stuart Hall Library and Archive
  • An opportunity to assist with Iniva and Delfina Foundation’s programming
  • Goldsmiths, Iniva and Delfina Foundation will provide an important platform to the recipient scholar to meet fellow research scholars, artists and a network of professionals in the field of contemporary art in London

Conditions for applicants:

  • Strongly preferred: a relevant post graduate degree
  • Preferred: Proven commitment/experience of curatorial work
  • Practical experience will also be considered, although not mandatory
  • Available during the autumn 2013 term and able to be released from employment or other academic involvement; additionally applicants must not take up other commitments and travel during the fellowship
  • Proficient in English

Applicants are expected to submit:
  • An application form (see below)
  • A 1500 word (maximum) research proposal.
  • Recent CV/resume
  • Examples of relevant work (preferably two samples of published works)

The Research Fellowship is an application-based process. The recipient will be chosen by a jury comprising of independent scholars in the field of visual arts and the partners.
Please submit only electronic copies of the above documents to the relevant email address in the application form.

Closing date for applications: 15 July 2013, 17:00 GMT.

Applicants in India should visit FICA's website for more information.

Open Call for Artists (Winter 2025-26) Last Ship Art Residency @Khajuraho

Artist in residence: The artist studios of Last Ship are situated opposite the UNESCO World Heritage temples of Khajuraho. The Viswanath temple built in 999 AD is right in front, less than 20 meters from Last Ship. Little known prehistoric and ancient historic sites in this region tell parts of a story more than 10,000 years old, of the Mughals, the Chandelas, going back to the Guptas, the Kushans, the Shungas and the Indo-Greeks all the way to prehistoric cave-dwellers, revealing secrets of the birth of the philosophies of Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism and their common Tantric spiritual traditions. The artists of the residency are invited to have their own experience of this heritage, like the sadhus, aghoris, and mystics who make solitary pilgrimages through this region, called the most powerful tantric region in the world, in search of enlightenment. The Last Ship residency program is a one-of-a-kind experience of a history, nature and culture, hidden in the chaos and turmoil...
