| Curatron Mansion Residency
Flaggfabrikken – Center for Contemporary Art is offering the opportunity to undertake a one-month residency for four artists in Bergen, Norway. With the financial support from the municipality of Bergen we will offer each artist a studio, accommodation, paid travel expenses and a daily allowance during the artist's stay.
The selected group of artists will be invited to stay at the Christinegard Mansion from October 14 to November 11. Each artist will be provided their own room within the mansion and will have their own respective studios at the following Bergen-based art institutions: Flaggfabrikken, Bergen Atlier Group,Bergen Center for Electronic Arts and SOMA.
During the residency the artist will be expected to give a small talk on his/her work for local artists and curators.
Curatron—selection process
We will be using the Curatron software system as our method to define the artists within the group of the residency. Curatron is an online software tool developed to involve artists directly in the curatorial selection process. Each artist applying for the residency can view the entire pool of applicants and select other applicants they would like to spend their residency with. Curatron then calculates the final group from every applicant's selection.

Artist in residence: The artist studios of Last Ship are situated opposite the UNESCO World Heritage temples of Khajuraho. The Viswanath temple built in 999 AD is right in front, less than 20 meters from Last Ship. Little known prehistoric and ancient historic sites in this region tell parts of a story more than 10,000 years old, of the Mughals, the Chandelas, going back to the Guptas, the Kushans, the Shungas and the Indo-Greeks all the way to prehistoric cave-dwellers, revealing secrets of the birth of the philosophies of Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism and their common Tantric spiritual traditions. The artists of the residency are invited to have their own experience of this heritage, like the sadhus, aghoris, and mystics who make solitary pilgrimages through this region, called the most powerful tantric region in the world, in search of enlightenment. The Last Ship residency program is a one-of-a-kind experience of a history, nature and culture, hidden in the chaos and turmoil...
