Wayfinding Series  —> A Work in Progress
Do you think progress is possible? If so, what do you think progress is? What can be done here?
Now? In your own life? What began with a raging case of wanderlust and a deep curiosity to meet and talk
with people about the notion of progress has become the Wayfinding Series | A Work in Progress. 
Commenced in May of 2012, The Wayfinding Series is an ongoing socially-engaged art work in which artists
Emily Puthoff and Elena Sniezek are having conversations with people across the country about their ideas
of progress. These conversations are posted here on our blog: wayfindingseries.com.
While in residence at Sculpture Space, Emily Puthoff designed and built the teardrop trailer that serves as
the basecamp for the Wayfinding Series. She modified original 1950′s Popular Mechanics plans for the DIY teardrop trailer. The teardrop trailer features a large solar-powered TV to screen a nomadic, micro-video
festival along with the Wayfinding Series travels.

We are kicking off the inaugural Wayfinding Film Festival in conjunction with the our travels
this summer. We are seeking short videos that address the theme of PROGRESS. 
Progress can be approached through multiple lenses: environmental, social, political, personal, philosophical,
or metaphorical. The videos selected for the Wayfinding Film Festival will be screened this summer throughout
the Northeastern United States on a large solar-powered HD screen housed in a nomadic teardrop trailer.
The videos selected will be screened as part of the The Wayfinding Film Festival at several prominent art
venues, such as the Force Field Festival (Philadelphia) and the Wassaic Project (Wassaic, NY) this summer
as well as many pop-up locations. Get your work on the road and seen by art lovers, film enthusiasts,

Festival Guidelines:
Short Single Channel Video (5 minutes maximum length). As this is a free, open-air festival, the audience
could quite possibly include children. Videos with excessive violence or sexual content will not be considered.
To Submit to the Festival:
Submit your video by emailing a link (Vimeo, YouTube, Dropbox, or Film Festival Life ) to wayfindingseries@gmail.com.

If selected, your final video file should be submitted as an H.264 codec video file, NTSC.
Submit as .mov or .avi.
By submitting the final video file, the artist/filmmaker is granting permission to the Wayfinding Film Festival to present the film 2014-2015.  The artists/filmmakers will be acknowledged online and in any printed matter.
For best results we strongly recommend these compression settings for the final video file:
VIDEO:
NTSC, Codec H.264 Quality: Best Resolution: 1920 x 1080, aspect ratio 16:9 Constant frame rate (24, 25 or 30 fps) 
AUDIO:
Sample rate: 48 kHz
Sample size: 16-bit Stereo (L/R)

Open Call! The Djerassi Program is now accepting applications for 2025 Artists in Residence program until September 12.

The Djerassi Resident Artist Program has awarded over 2500 writers, visual/media artists, composers, choreographers, filmmakers, and scientists for the past 41 years the gift of time and space with a one-month residency on our 583-acre ranch in Northern California's Santa Cruz Mountains.
